Brentwood Place has changed more in the past eighteen months than in a long time. The new tenants are built for long visits. Crush Yard has indoor pickleball courts, a full bar and an arcade. Big Bad Breakfast is a sit-down Southern brunch room. Edley's Bar-B-Que is moving into the former McAlister's Deli and adding a smoker porch. Yardstick is a dog hotel with tours already on its calendar. Each of these openings has also run behind its first announced date.
If you live near Franklin Road and still think of the center as the Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx and Total Wine stop, the list below covers what is open as of early October 2026, what is still under construction, and how much weight each projected date can bear.
The Big Box That Became a Pickleball Hall
The clearest sign of the change is the largest space. Crush Yard took over a big-box space that had previously housed Kroger and later Stein Mart. The building now holds 33,400 square feet with eight indoor pickleball courts, a restaurant and full bar, private event space and an arcade. It is the brand's first location in Tennessee.
It took a while. By March 2026, Williamson Source noted that almost two years had passed since Crush Yard first announced Brentwood. Its website still said "coming soon" at that point. A spring announcement then set May 11, 2026, as the door-opening date. In late May, a follow-up reported a delay and moved the ribbon cutting to Monday, June 1. At that ceremony, staff said the venue had soft-opened about two weeks earlier and the kitchen had opened the week before. The Williamson Herald confirmed it was open and celebrating.
Here is how a visit works, based on Crush Yard's own pages:
- Court hours: pickleball runs daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Kitchen and bar: noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
- Pricing: published general rates start at $48 an hour per court. Morning drop-in is $15, open play after 10 a.m. starts at $9, paddle rental is $8, and balls are $4 each or three for $10. Passholders get discounts.
- Booking: non-passholders can reserve a week ahead and get a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before play.
- Menu: shareables, salads and wraps, pizzas, rice bowls, kids' meals and desserts, plus signature cocktails and beer at the bar.
Compare $15 for a morning drop-in with $48 an hour for a private court split among four players. The first works well for a solo player looking for a game. The second suits a group that already has a regular foursome. Both options sit in a building that used to be a grocery store, where most visits were a quick run for a few items.
What the New Owner Said It Would Do
The Crush Yard conversion fits a plan the owner announced. Regency Centers bought Brentwood Place in March 2025 and described it as roughly 320,000 square feet, including more than 100,000 square feet of shop space. Nordstrom Rack, Total Wine, TJ Maxx/HomeGoods and Golf Galaxy were named as anchors. The center was 95% leased at the time, and Regency's release pointed to "lease-up and remerchandising strategies" as the main opportunity.
With a center that full, remerchandising means swapping out tenants, and the swaps so far have one thing in common. The anchors are still there. Regency's current property listing still names Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Total Wine & More and Golf Galaxy, along with CVS and Stock & Trade. The spaces turning over are going to tenants where a visit means sitting down, playing or leaving a pet for the day. No center-wide renovation has been announced. The change is happening one storefront at a time.
Breakfast in Suite 226-B
Big Bad Breakfast, the Southern breakfast and brunch concept led by founder and CEO John Currence, is moving into 330 Franklin Road, Suite 226-B. In an August interview with WhatNow Nashville, Currence said permitting delays had affected the project and that the restaurant was aiming for mid-October. It will be the brand's fifth location in the greater Nashville area.
"We've had our eye on Brentwood for years and looked for the right opportunity. We feel like this is really an absolute diamond for us," Currence told WhatNow Nashville.
Mid-October is only a week or two away, but the Brentwood location page still says "Coming Soon!" and gives no date. Until the restaurant announces one, mid-October is a target and nothing firmer.
Barbecue Where the Deli Was
Edley's Bar-B-Que is taking over the former McAlister's Deli building at Brentwood Place. According to Williamson Source, it went before the Brentwood Planning Commission on July 6, 2026, as a minor site plan alteration. The plans call for new paint, cladding, awnings, black accents, gray-painted brick and a covered porch at the back of the building for the kitchen smoker. City staff recommended approval subject to standard requirements, and signage still needs its own city review. This will be the brand's 12th location, and the opening is expected by the end of the year.
The smoker porch says a lot about the change. A deli where most people order at the counter and leave is becoming a barbecue restaurant whose meat cooks out back for hours.
Where Each Opening Stands in Early October
Every new tenant in this round has run behind its original timeline or has yet to post a firm date. Here is where each one stands as of October 7, 2026.
| Tenant | Space | First announced timing | Where it stands now | How firm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crush Yard | Former Kroger/Stein Mart big box | Doors on May 11, 2026 | Soft-opened in mid-May, ribbon cutting June 1 | Open |
| Yardstick | 330 Franklin Road #222B | Spring 2026 | Stay booking live, tours scheduled into October | Booking live, first day of operation not confirmed |
| Big Bad Breakfast | 330 Franklin Road, Suite 226-B | "Coming soon" | Mid-October target after permitting delays | Target only |
| Edley's Bar-B-Que | Former McAlister's Deli | End of 2026 | Site plan recommended for approval July 6, signage pending | Projection |
The dates on Yardstick are the hardest to read. When its lease for more than 7,000 square feet was announced in fall 2025, Williamson Source reported an expected spring 2026 opening. The business was licensed for dog boarding and daycare on May 15, 2026. Its website lists the Brentwood Place unit, links to stay booking and shows a Brentwood tour slot on October 8, 2026. None of those pages gives an opening date or hours, so calling ahead before a first drop-off makes sense.
The Same Shift on Wilson Pike Circle
The idea of a shopping trip you linger over is also showing up in an older Brentwood building. The 24,350-square-foot building at 144 Wilson Pike Circle has been leased to Nashville Farmers' Storehouse, which will bring a grocery back to the property for the first time in more than three decades.
The building has a history. The Huff family bought Food Town in 1949, when the store was across the street, and built the Wilson Pike building in 1983. Huff's Food Town was known for fresh-cut meats and seafood, a bakery, a deli, specialty cheeses and natural foods. It closed in 1993, and the building later housed Brentwood Interiors and then Stitchers Garden.
Williamson Source reports that Nashville Farmers' Storehouse is an independently owned cooperative of farmers and families. The Brentwood store will sell organic and locally sourced products and include a flour mill, bakery and pizzeria, and plans call for a stage for local musicians. Construction is underway, and an opening date will be announced later.
This grocery store will have a stage and a pizzeria, the same kind of place to stay a while that Brentwood Place is moving toward. Like the openings at Brentwood Place, it has no firm date yet.
Putting Together a Franklin Road Saturday This Fall
Only part of the new Brentwood Place is open now, so a Saturday there takes some planning around what is actually running:
- Start on the courts. Saturday court time begins at 6 a.m., and morning drop-in costs $15 per player. If you have a set group, book a private court up to a week ahead.
- Eat on site. On Saturdays the Crush Yard kitchen and bar open at 11 a.m. Once Big Bad Breakfast opens a few doors down, an earlier breakfast stop becomes an option. Check its location page for the date first.
- Run errands at the anchors. Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Total Wine & More, Golf Galaxy and CVS are all still in the same center.
- Schedule a Yardstick tour in advance if you are considering daycare or boarding nearby. The tour calendar is on its site.
By the end of the year, if Edley's opens on schedule, the same parking lot will offer barbecue, brunch, pickleball and dog care.
New tenants coming and going at a center like Brentwood Place change what a Saturday on Franklin Road looks like, and they become part of how neighbors describe a part of town.
